Creating a Polygon Outline

This assumes that you have a TIN that you want to make an outline of.

  1. In ArcScene, use: 3D Analyst Tools, Conversion, From TIN, TIN Edge - to make a poly ShapeFile (will include all lines from the triangles).

  2. Edit the ShapeFile from above in ArcMap and delete all interior lines.

    1. Editor Menu, Start Editing.
    2. Task: Cut Polygon Features.
    3. You can actually highlight multiple lines and hit delete.
    4. Editor Menu, Save edits and Stop Editing
  3. Convert the polyshape into a polygon:
    1. Data Management Tools, Features, Feature to Polygon Tool
    2. Save the polygon by clicking OK

You can use this as a polygon in HowToCreateSolidPolygon.
