Installing Client

  1. Create your client vm, (do not turn it on)
  2. Have your instructor or TA put it on your VLAN.

Installing the client

Only install one of the following as instructed in your lab!

Install Windows 11:

  1. Run through windows install - Dr. A can give you a Windows Key later.
    1. Change computer hostname to be cptr230w
  2. Enable remote desktop connections

Connect to your pfSense/OPNSense machine and finish configuring pfSense/OPNSense. See InstallFirewall

  1. Use your key given in eClass and activate your installation for windows.
  2. Install updates! You can't use remote desktop until updates are installed.
  3. Find and install the remote administration tools. (Hint: you can do this through powershell easier than through the GUI)

  4. Install Windows Admin Center
  5. Test remote desktop to your "public" IP on your firewall (not the 192.168.1.1 address).
