Notes on various ProxMox Configurations

Creating the Windows Template

Hardware:

Follow the best practices given https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Windows_2022_guest_best_practices for creating the VM. Weirdly enough, I couldn't get this to work for Windows 2022 Server, It did work for Windows 2019 Server. For a full reason why, see: ProxMoxWindows2022.

ProxMox Setup

Installed Windows 2019 with all the updates and Firefox. Then ran:

C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /generalize /mode:vm /shutdown

Then I made it into a template.

Clone the template (not linked!!!) and now I have a machine that can be used for students!

Eventual setup to allow students to create machines
