Configure your Linux firewall as shown here. Install Windows 2012 on one of your remaining VMs. Make sure you can access the Internet and that you can remote desktop into your machine. (You will need to enable remote desktop on your Windows Machine - I did not show you how to do this in the video.) Create 3 virtual machines:

 1. pfSense
 1. Windows 10 Client
 1. Windows Server 2019 Standard Core (If you install the desktop experience, you will have to re-install it)

Installing pfSense
 1. Create the VM (do not turn it on)
 1. Have your instructor put it on your VLAN
 1. Turn it on and run through the installer

Configure your pfSense firewall as shown here.

Installing Windows 10 Client
 1. Create your Windows 10 vm, (do not turn it on)
 1. Have your instructor put it on your VLAN.

Install Windows 10:

 1. Run through windows install - Dr. A can give you a Windows 10 Key later.
  a. Change computer hostname to be cpte230w
 1. Find and install the remote administration tools. (Hint: you can do this through powershell easier than through the GUI)
 1. Instal Windows Admin Center
 1. Enable remote desktop connections

Install Windows Server on one of your remaining VMs.

Use one of these keys

On windows setup your network with the following information:

 * IP address 192.168.1.2
 * Gateway 192.168.1.1
 * DNS 10.10.129.2 and optionally 10.10.129.3 (We will change this soon)

To do this, run sconfig (if you have a GUI, you are doing it wrong). While you are at it, make sure you've got all of the following configured:

 1. [no change]
 1. Set to CPTE230A
 1. [no change]
 1. Enable remote access
 1. [no change]
 1. [no change]
 1. Enable remote desktop
 1. Configure your network settings here.
 1. Set the timezone to Eastern
 1. [no change]
 1. If you haven't done it yet, enter the key and activate your server

Please read the entire lab before starting.

Assignment

First read the naming convention before you do anything!

Create 3 virtual machines:

  1. pfSense
  2. Windows 10 Client
  3. Windows Server 2019 Standard Core (If you install the desktop experience, you will have to re-install it)

Installing pfSense

  1. Create the VM (do not turn it on)
  2. Have your instructor put it on your VLAN
  3. Turn it on and run through the installer

Configure your pfSense firewall as shown here.

Installing Windows 10 Client

  1. Create your Windows 10 vm, (do not turn it on)
  2. Have your instructor put it on your VLAN.

Install Windows 10:

  1. Run through windows install - Dr. A can give you a Windows 10 Key later.
    1. Change computer hostname to be cpte230w
  2. Find and install the remote administration tools. (Hint: you can do this through powershell easier than through the GUI)
  3. Instal Windows Admin Center

  • IP address 192.168.1.2
  • Gateway 192.168.1.1
  • DNS 10.10.129.2 and optionally 10.10.129.3 (We will change this soon)

To do this, run sconfig (if you have a GUI, you are doing it wrong). While you are at it, make sure you've got all of the following configured:

Make sure you can access the Internet and that you can remote desktop into your Windows 10 machine.

To earn points:

Create a homepage on your Documentation Wiki and include links to the following pages:

  1. Document the configuration of your network in a new page called “Networking" using the principles of documenting that we went over in class. Draw a diagram like you see on the wiki, but make sure it has your correct IP addresses.
  2. Document the process of installing Windows Server (Screen shots are good documenting choices during the install) in a new “Install” page of your wiki on moodle.
  3. Document your passwords in a new "Passwords" page of your wiki.

Create a video that shows your working Windows Server installation working. Include a walk through of your wiki pages.
