Print Management Console Lab
In this lab we will create a GPO that deploys a printer to your Windows 10 machine.
The first step is to install a printer on your server.
- Using CPTE230A and the Print Console install the emblabprinter.cs.southern.edu printer on your server (You can use nslookup to find the IP address).
- Add the Print and Document Services role to your CPTR230A server
- Find CPTE230A under print servers
- Right Click CPTE230A, and select add printer
- Add a TCP/IP ...
- Input the IP address for emblabprinter.cs.southern.edu, and click next
- Make sure it is shared with a reasonable name and click next
- Make sure you share the printer on the server (there is a check box for this when you create it).
- Create an organizational unit called "clients" and place your windows 10 machine in it. (Done in AD Users and Computers)
- Create a GPO that will apply to your windows 10 machine "Computer" that deploys the printer you created and link it to the OU created above.
- Hint: You can do this from Print Management
Documentation
- Document the new shared printer on the domains page in the section called "Shared Resources"
Grade Guide
- In the Print Management Console, show the deployed printer is present, and the name of the GPO that is linked.
- In Active Directory Users and Computers, show the computer in the new "Client" OU.
- Demo printing a page from your windows 10 client.
