Grandma Davis Sweet Roll Recipe
Serving size 24
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup potato water
- 1 cup potatoes well mashed
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup oil or shortening
- 1 cake yeast
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 2 eggs
- 6 to 8 cups flour sifted
- 1/2 cup nuts chopped
- Cream
- Brown sugar
Except for the nuts, cream, and brown sugar, add all ingredients in the order listed. This dough should be a great deal softer than regular bread dough. Let rise twice. Roll dough into oblong shape (thin). Spread with soft butter brown sugar nuts and cream. Roll up and seal with butter. Cut and place in oiled Pan close together let rise until double in size and bake at 375 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes. Frost while warm with white icing makes 2 dozen.
